All-Ukrainian round table with international participation "The European Union as a global actor" for Europe Day

On May 18, 2021, the All-Ukrainian Round Table with international participation “The European Union as a Global Actor” was held for Europe Day as part of the implementation of the Erasmus+ Jean Monet Modules project “European Political Integration: Historical Retrospective and Modernity” in a mixed format using the Zoom platform. More than 100 participants took part, including representatives of twenty higher education institutions of Ukraine. The round table was represented by scientists, lecturers, teachers, students of higher education, representatives of civil society.

The meeting was moderated by Olena CHUMACHENKO, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology and History of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University, academic coordinator of the Erasmus+ Jean Monet Module project.

Hryhoriy LUTSENKO, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, who emphasized the importance of holding such events and the relevance of the mentioned topic of the round table.

The participants were also greeted by Petro KRAINIK, an expert in the Jean Monet direction of the National Erasmus+ office, who spoke about the introduction of international projects into the educational process of educational institutions and informed about the possibility of participating in Erasmus+ program projects for 2021–2027.

The speakers of the round table gave thorough reports, which aroused the lively interest and discussion of the participants:

Oleksandr KUCHYK, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, associate professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomatic Service of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, deputy director of the Center for International Security and Partnership, spoke on the topic: “Ukraine as a component of European security in conditions of regional and global confrontation”;

Tetyana MELESHENKO, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of History of the National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Drahomanov, gave a speech “NATO-EU: Security Policy”;

Dzmitriy KRYVASHEY, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, scientific secretary of the Belarusian Scientific and Research Center for Electronic Documentation (Minsk, Republic of Belarus) spoke about the Culture of Belarus in the programs and projects of the European Union through the prism of cultural security (in Belarusian).

The discussion was attended by: Mykhailo Zhuk, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Education of the Sumy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education with the topic of the report “Cultural diplomacy as a factor in the formation of a positive image of Ukraine” and students of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Technical University: Valeriya KASCHENKO, Maryna ZIMA, students of the 4th year of Educational programme Secondary Education (History), Nelya PADALYTSYA, student of the 3rd year of Educational programme Secondary Education (Language and Literature (English)), Diana HRYN, student of the 3rd year of Educational programme Secondary Education (History) , Artem KONOPLYA, 1st year student of Preschool Education faculty.

It was proposed to periodically hold such events to promote the professional development of education seekers and teachers, in particular, in matters of European integration and deepening awareness of European security.
