Current issues in the field of responding to security challenges were discussed during the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical seminar within the scope of the project

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical seminar “The EU’s experience in responding to security challenges” was held in the online format on the Zoom platform at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University.

The event has already become traditional within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monet Module project “European Political Integration: Historical Retrospective and Modernity” 621046-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE, which is carried out at the Department of History, Law and Teaching Methods. It began with the words of greetings from Nataliya TKACHENKO, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University, and Petro KRAYNIK, an expert in the Jean Monet field of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine.

The academic coordinator of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules project, the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology and History of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Olena CHUMACHENKO, moderated numerous speeches by experts on the EU’s experience in the field of responding to security challenges.

The speakers highlighted a number of current problems. Anastasia KHMEL, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, head of the Department of International Relations of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University named, presented the report “The Place of Hybrid Threats in the EU Security Strategy 2020”. Tetyana HRYNYUK, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic and Social Geography of the M.P. Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, spoke about geopolitical realities and the security mechanism of the European Union in countering modern challenges and threats.

The candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of World History and International Relations of the Cherkasy B. Khmelnytskyi National University, shared the idea of creating a European army at the current stage. Oleksandr OVCHARENKO. Speeches at such events by Mykhailo ZHUK – Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Education of the Sumy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education have already become traditional. This time it is the report “DigCompEdu (framework of digital competences) as a factor of innovative development and information security policy of the EU”.

Maksym LEVCHENKO, a post-graduate student of the University’s Department of History, Law and Teaching Methods, also spoke at the all-Ukrainian seminar on the topic “Reaction of the European Union to informational messages about Ukraine in the context of the challenges of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Serhii PANCHENKO, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Research Department of the Hetman National Nature Park, analyzed the problem of preserving phytodiversity as a component of national security. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of General Practice-Family Medicine and Internal Medicine of the Kharkiv National Medical University Olha KOVALOVA focused on the issues of achievements and hidden risks of medical and biological research (dual-use research) with the topic “Climate diplomacy: essence, directions, tasks, student of Cherkassy Bohdan Khmelnytskyi National University Alina ROMANKIV.

Teachers and students of higher education of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology and History of the University, as well as teachers of general secondary education institutions, took part in the discussion of the issues raised during the all-Ukrainian scientific and practical seminar.

Based on the results of the seminar “The EU’s experience in the field of responding to security challenges”, the materials of theses of the reports will be released, which will be able to increase the effectiveness of the study of these topical issues in the educational process. Event participants will receive appropriate certificates.
